Based in San Jose & Gilroy, California, Rancho Dos Leones is a family-owned equestrian entertainment service rooted in the authentic Mexican tradition of caballos bailadores. Our horses are trained in the centuries-old art of rhythmic movement, performing graceful, dance-like sequences to live banda and mariachi music.

What Are Caballos Bailadores?

Caballos bailadores — "dancing horses" — are trained to perform rhythmic, dance-like movements synchronized to live music, performing the elegance of the Alta Escuela.

This is a 100% Mexican equestrian art form, developed primarily in Michoacán and Jalisco.

Charrería — UNESCO Heritage

In 2016, UNESCO inscribed Charrería as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Born when Spanish colonizers introduced horses to the Americas, it evolved into Mexico's defining art form.

The Music: Banda & Mariachi

Our horses dance to the powerful brass rhythms of banda and the soulful strings of mariachi — the same musical traditions that define Mexican regional culture.

The Charro — Living Symbol

The charro is dressed in an ornately embroidered suit with silver buttons, silk bow tie, and wide-brimmed sombrero — a national symbol of Mexico. "When I'm dressed as a charro, I feel like I'm wearing Mexico."
